First, we start with a complementary coaching session. The purpose of this session is to find out if coaching is for you and to mutually explore the benefits of an ongoing coaching relationship. You have nothing to lose. Coaching is not something I sell you on. Its something you understand and invest in because you want it and you instinctively know it will benefit you. If we decide to continue, I will ask you to make a three-month commitment to our coaching relationship. Prior to our next session, I will ask you to complete a couple instruments that will help us get to know one another fairly quickly as well as help you to identify some things you want to work on. This particular session is designed to lay a foundation for our relationship since a collaborative partnership must be founded on a relationship of respect and trust. Next, we seek to articulate your ministry goals as well as your personal goals. Here we look at both short and longer term goals, as well as clarify your God-given destiny. I believe that personal growth and life balance are keys to effective ministry. Then we formulate together an accurate snapshot of where you are at the present time. This is usually done by using a few highly-focused instruments that have been proven to be effective. The instruments used are determined by the situation under examination. Once we have an understanding of where you are and where you want to go, we then collaboratively develop a growth plan for getting there that includes both short-term and longer-term goals. We look for some quick wins so as to begin to establish some momentum toward progress. Finally, through regular calls, as your coach Im there to help you stay focused, take the right action at the right time, and most of all, to stay encouraged as you work through the plan. |
